Started in 2018, Alosa Communications is run by a creative team with years of editorial experience in communications and writing. Kate is an award winning writer, web designer and historian, Caroline is a photographer and videographer. As freelancers, we’ve worked for magazines and non-profits throughout the Chesapeake region. As passionate and invested Marylanders, we believe in bringing that skillset to the communities we love.

Together, we cover a broad range of professional communications expertise needed to make your digital story shine— website design, writing, editing, photography, videography, graphic design, and illustration. We know how to write for the web, how to select the right platforms to get your message to your target audiences, and how to craft the voice and format of your content to make it engaging and effective.

Based in Chestertown, on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, we’re proud to have a Chesapeake focus, and the businesses and clients we’ve worked with reflect our commitment to serving local artists, non-profits and small businesses.

What’s an Alosa?

Alosa sapidissima is the latin name for the American shad, a species native to the rivers of the Chesapeake Bay. Every spring, millions of these fish return to their natal Bay rivers in order to spawn. Like our namesake, the Alosa team is made up of Chesapeake natives, creating new ideas in the places we were born.
